Sunset Family Photos at Smith Rock State Park

I honestly don’t shoot many family sessions, especially these days. It’s not that I don’t enjoy them, but they just obviously hadn’t been my “niche” for a while. So it was more by chance that I happened to end up photographing the wonderful Sun family at Smith Rock on this beautiful Oregon summer day. A photographer in one of my professional networks reached out with a personal emergency and needed someone to take over the Sun’s family photos in the next couple of days at Smith Rock State Park. Thankfully, I happened to be available and Smith Rock wasn’t too far from where I live, so I took on the job and am I so glad I did.

When I say we had a blast, I think that would even be an understatement. I already love shooting photos at Smith Rock State Park as it is, but shooting this awesome (and beautiful!) family was icing on the cake. We got to hit up some of my favorite photo spots in the park, and every one laughed and danced and had a great time and we got some wonderful photos out of it. I love it when you can really see and feel a family’s love and connection when you get to spend time with them for a family session. That’s literally my favorite part of photography – getting to capture and memorialize those beautiful feelings of love and joy!
